Residents and staff in Plessington Court Care Home had a spook-tacular time this Halloween.
Geraldine Button, one of the home’s Activity Coordinators, worked with residents on a number of Halloween themed activities and treats.
As well as making and decorating scary fairy cakes with red icing, residents showed off their creative skills by making an incredible scarecrow.
Geraldine said: “We had a chat about Halloween and agreed we wanted to do something a little bit different this year.
“Everyone loved the idea of making a scarecrow, so we decided to make a hooded lady out of leftover straw from our rabbit hutches. We blew up some plastic gloves for the hands and feet and covered a balloon with paper mâché ready to decorate with a face.
“We popped into a local charity shop to buy a dress and some stripy socks to dress her in and one of our residents kindly volunteered to model the hair and hat.
“Our Halloween scarecrow, who we christened Aunt Sally, looks amazing and is going on display in Plessington Court so lots of people can see her. The residents had lots of fun and laughter and a wonderful time. We’re all looking forward to the next festive occasion.”
